Counsel for the Claimant Lloyd’ Syndicate in this successful reinsurance claim arising out of the destruction of an oil refinery in Aruba. The Claimant successfully resisted a jurisdictional challenge in summer 2006 (Cresswell J) and then succeeded in trial in July 2007 (Andrew Smith J). The case determined important points on “follow settlements” clauses in reinsurance contracts.
