The CJEU has given its preliminary ruling in ClientEarth concerning air quality in London and other large cities. The EU held that the UK should have complied with the strict requirements for obtaining a time extension, and should now take steps to comply as soon as possible. The case has now been returned to the Supreme Court with the CJEU confirming that the domestic courts should ensure that the UK now complies with its legal obligations.
