Michael Beloff QC and Gerard Clarke (with Sam Grodzinski from Matrix) successfully represented the Secretary of State before the Court of Appeal in a landmark decision holding that EU procurement rules do not apply to the creation of Academy Schools. The case is of wide application to the schools sector and may have ramifications for other activities involving the commissioning of philanthropic acts.
