Awards hat-trick for Blackstone Chambers

31 Jul 07

Completing a hat-trick of recent awards, Blackstone Chambers was delighted to win the award for "Human Rights & Public Law set of the year" at the Chambers Bar Awards 2007, announced on 4th October.

The work of one of our barristers was also recognised, with Tom de la Mare winning the title of "Competition/EU Junior of the Year".

These latest awards follow other successes earlier this year:

In June, Blackstone Chambers was honoured to be awarded the accolade of "Chambers of the Year" at the 2007 Lawyer Awards. The award citation reads: "With the bar suffering from a dip in commercial litigation, one set is still flying high. The formidable Blackstone Chambers, headed jointly by Ian Mill QC and Thomas Beazley QC, has become the go-to set for all-round regulatory and public law work; from competition to financial services, from judicial review to sporting disputes, Blackstone barristers are regularly seen on all the biggest cases." It was a good night all round as the work of one of our Silks, David Pannick QC, was also recognised. David was a very worthy runner up in the Barrister of the Year awards category.

Then, on 5th July, Chambers scored a double with the award of "Most Innovative Set of Chambers" at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards. The list of winners can be found at: http://www.ftconferences.com/innovativelawyers/home.asp?m_pid=0&m_nid=17714

Chambers was commended as, "a heavyweight set that is light on its toes...for working its way to its current position over the past 10 years by ambitiously marketing itself and adopting a more commercial mentality, on top of offering excellent advocacy."

Congratulations to everyone and our thanks to all the judges who put us there.
