Barbara Dohmann QC's new appointments

Barbara Dohmann QC has been appointed to the standing committee on private international law ("the North Committee") by the Department for Constitutional Affairs.
The Committee was originally set up in 1993 to give advice in connection with negotiations at the Hague Conference on Private International Law for a Convention on civil jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments. This function ended in June 2005 with the finalisation of an agreement on commercial choice of court agreements. The current focus of the Committee is primarily on the draft Rome II Regulation (choice of law in relation to contractiual obligations ) and the draft Rome I Regulation (choice of law in relation to contractual obligations). At the same time Barbara has also been appointed to the Special Committee of the London Metal Exchange.
