Christine Ohuruogu wins appeal against Olympic ban
19 Aug 08
Michael Beloff QC and Jane Mulcahy have represented British 400m world champion Christine Ohuruogu in her successful appeal against a lifetime ban from competing in the Olympic Games. Michael and Jane represented Christine on a pro bono basis.
Christine had been banned from racing for a year for missing three drugs test and under British Olympic Association rules this meant she was ineligible to compete in any future Olympics.
However, following an appeal hearing on 30 December 2007, the Appeals Panel has unanimously agreed that this ban should be overturned. Although the Panel has yet to supply its full judgment it has announced its decision because it felt that delaying this would not be in the interests of any party.
Adam Lewis and James Segan acted for the British Olympic Association.
19 August 2008: Christine Ohuruogu has won the Gold medal in the women's 400m final at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
