Dinah Rose QC named Barrister of the Year

Dinah Rose QC beat strong competition to be named Barrister of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2009.
In its citation the industry magazine singled out Dinah’s involvement as lead counsel in the two judicial review proceedings R (Binyam Mohamed) v Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and R (Corner House and Campaign against Arms Trade) v Serious Fraud Office from her work over the past 12 months. In Binyam Mohamed Dinah acted for the claimant seeking disclosure of information demonstrating the extraordinary rendition and torture of a British resident detained by the US Government in Guantanamo Bay and in the latter case for the claimants in a judicial review of the decision of the SFO to discontinue the investigation of BAE plc for alleged bribery in relation to the Al Yamamah Saudi Arabian arms deal.
At the Lawyer Awards ceremony held on 23rd June 2009, Lord Pannick QC was also shortlisted to be named Barrister of the Year, with Blackstone Chambers ranked second in the Chambers of the Year category.
In February 2009, Blackstone Chambers was named Chambers of the Year 2009 by Legal Business magazine.
