Lord Woolf joins Blackstone Chambers
01 Oct 05
The members of Blackstone Chambers are delighted to welcome Lord Woolf as a non resident member on his retirement as Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales. He joins Chambers with effect from 1st October 2005 to act as a mediator and arbitrator, building on his long standing interest in and support for ADR.
Lord Woolf will be working along side the other well known members of Chambers’ mediation group, Presiley Baxendale QC, Sir David Edward QC, Robert Englehart QC and Charles Flint QC, further enhancing the service offered to mediation clients whilst also providing additional strength and depth to Chambers’ arbitration team. Lord Woolf was called to the Bar in 1955 and, following 5 years as first Treasury Counsel (Common Law) between 1974 and 1979, he was appointed to the High Court Bench. Lord Woolf was appointed as Lord Justice of Appeal in 1986 and a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in 1992. Between 1996 and 2000 Lord Woolf held the position of Master of the Rolls and in 2000 was appointed Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, a position from which he retired in September 2005.
