Two new tenants join the Commercial Group at Blackstone Chambers

Blackstone Chambers is delighted to announce that two highly rated commercial practitioners, Andreas Gledhill and Leona Powell, have joined Chambers.
Their arrival is the culmination of a successful recruitment campaign to strengthen the capability at the junior end of the commercial group. This targeted recruitment was itself prompted by an increase in commercial work and a growing demand from solicitor clients to work in teams, as well as the recent appointment to silk of four commercial senior juniors in Chambers.
Andreas Gledhill is a senior junior (called 1992) who specialises in the full range of commercial litigation, including insolvency and restructuring, banking and financial services, company law, tax and professional negligence. He was appointed to the Attorney-General’s A Panel in 2007 and is ranked by both Chambers UK 2010 and Legal 500 2009 as a leading junior for restructuring/insolvency. Andreas joins Chambers from 3/4 South Square.
Leona Powell is a junior barrister (called 2000) specialising in commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on civil fraud and asset recovery as well as extensive experience of disputes and arbitrations across a range of fields such as energy, commodities, construction and commercial finance. Leona is recommended for her civil fraud practice by Chambers UK 2010, where she is described as “brilliant, indefatigable and someone who regularly exceeds expectations.” Leona joins from 2 Temple Gardens.
Ian Mill QC, joint head of Blackstone Chambers, said: “We are delighted that Andreas and Leona will be joining us, giving us a most welcome enhancement to our commercial group.”
Andreas Gledhill said: “I’m very pleased to have been asked to join Blackstone, and look forward to helping to develop its practice in insolvency and banking litigation”.
Leona Powell said: "I am delighted to be joining the commercial group at Blackstone Chambers, and look forward to working hard towards its continuing growth and success.”
