The following two tables set out the substantive differences between the Council Directive 2004/83/EC (“on minimum standards for the qualification and status of third country nationals or stateless persons as refuges or as persons who otherwise need international protection and the contention of the protection granted”) and

  1. The 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees;
  2. The Refugee or Person in Need of International Protection (Qualification) Regulations;
  3. The Immigration Rules; 
  4. The Human Rights Act 1998 / European Convention on Human Rights.
