Blackstone Chambers' Andrew Green QC and Fraser Campbell have been appointed by the House of Commons Treasury Committee as Specialist Advisers for the current Parliamentary session.
This appointment follows their previous appointment as Specialist Advisers by the Committee in 2016 (along with James Segan and Simon Pritchard). Among other work, in that capacity they and others from Blackstone (Tony Peto QC, Pushpinder Saini QC and Ajay Ratan) presented a report to the Committee on the controversial practice of 'Maxwellisation' in public inquiries.
Andrew and Fraser have also been commissioned by the Committee to verify the FCA's summary of an unpublished report into the treatment of business customers by RBS' defunct Global Restructuring Group (GRG); see Terms of Reference. They have been instructed by the Committee, subject to the FCA's co-operation, to review the full report and analyse how far the summary fairly and fully reflects its tone and findings. This comes after the FCA refused a call by the Committee's Chair, Nicky Morgan MP, to publish its statutory "skilled person report" on GRG, instead offering a summary of that report.
