Tim Otty QC has been appointed to sit part time on the Steering Board of the UKNCP for a three year term to January 2021. The UK NCP is responsible for raising awareness of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) guidelines for multinational enterprises, and for implementing the complaints mechanism. The UK NCP is part of the Department for International Trade (DIT). Its work is partly funded by the Department for International Development (DFID).

The OECD guidelines for multinational enterprises are a set of standards intended to promote responsible business conduct by enterprises based in the 47 adhering states.

They cover a range of issues including those related to:

  • human rights
  • environment
  • employment
  • bribery
  • disclosure of company information
  • supply chain management
  • taxation

The UK NCP is responsible for:

  • promoting a general awareness of the guidelines
  • implementing the complaints mechanism set out in them.
