On 7 February, following a review by an independent tribunal, the sanctions imposed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in July 2017 on Mr Ilie Năstase were reduced.
The ban from receiving access to, or otherwise accreditation
for ITF competitions and circuits has been reduced to almost half of its
initial length (from approximately 20 months to 12 months), and will now expire
on 23 April 2018. Secondly, the ban from acting in an official capacity in all
ITF competitions has been reduced by approximately eight months and will now
expire on 23 April 2020.
