Jason Pobjoy has been shortlisted in the Young Practitioner of the Year category for the WorldECR Awards 2018.
The WorldECR Awards recognise outstanding work, vision, best practice and contribution to international security, of organisations and individuals working in the fields of export control and sanctions compliance and non-proliferation.
Jason has extensive experience in challenging and advising on EU and international asset-freezing sanctions, and is recognised as a leading sanctions lawyer in the EU. He is currently acting for more than 20 individuals and entities in over a dozen challenges to asset-freezing regimes before the General Court of the EU and the Court of Justice. The majority of his recent cases, often working with Brian Kennelly QC, have resulted in significant victories. For example, last week the General Court annulled the freezing of funds for Mr Klyuyev (see here), while two other recent judgments resulted in the de-listing of the sanctioned individuals, in relation to Mr Ivanyuschenko (see here) and Mr Klyuyev’s brother (see here). In addition to sanctions challenges, both Brian and Jason also have considerable experience in advising on sanctions compliance issues.
The results of the Awards will be announced at the end of July.
