Andrew Green QC and Jana Sadler-Forster, instructed by Baker McKenzie, successfully represented the Defendant in a claim involving an alleged oral contract, said to have been entered into between Mr Jasminder Singh OBE of the Defendant and Mr Rajnikant Hansraj Mehta and Pravin Mokar Shah of the Claimant. The Defendant is one of the largest privately owned hotel groups in the UK, owning and operating 12 hotels across the UK. The Claimant alleged that it had agreed with the Defendant that it would seek to find and introduce a funder to the Defendant, and that if funds were made available or drawn down as a result of that introduction, the Claimant would be entitled to a 1% fee.

The Court found in the Defendant’s favour that no such contract had been entered into and dismissed the claim in its entirety.
