Leading counsel for the claimant Ukrainian bank in this large and complex international fraud claim. The case concerned a fraudulent scheme perpetrated by the defendants to misappropriate US$2billion from the Bank. Following a Court of Appeal decision in 2019 on important jurisdictional and other issues, and were various substantial interlocutory decisions in 2021-2023, including on confidentiality club arrangements, disclosure failures, and the terms of the WFO, the case was tried over 3 months in 2023, and the Court handed down Judgment in favour of the Bank in July 2025.
Acted from 2020 to 2023 for Credit Suisse, one of the lead defendants in this multi-billion dollar civil fraud case, involving allegations of bribery and involving a major state guarantee. The claim against Credit Suisse settled before trial in late 2023, but proceeded to a trial against the remaining defendants.
Leading counsel for the Claimant, a Saudi Arabian liquidator of the founder of the now insolvent Saad Group of companies, in this ongoing claim seeking to recover substantial assets located in England and held by offshore companies.
Leading counsel for the defendant company in this multi-jurisdictional dispute between an ultra high net worth individual and his former asset manager, involving cases and hearings in England, the BVI, Cayman, and the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal.
Andrew regularly acts in a wide variety of domestic and international commercial arbitrations, and has extensive experience of arbitration applications in the Commercial Court. He regularly acts for US Policyholders in Bermuda Form Arbitrations, and also appears in a wide variety of sports arbitrations. Lead Counsel for the claimant in this substantial commercial dispute regarding the ownership of a multinational conglomerate. Heard by an LCIA Arbitral Tribunal over 3 weeks in June 2025.
(Bermuda Form London arbitration, 2025). Lead Counsel for the US Insured, a large manufacturing company in this liability insurance claim for coverage in respect of the settlement of a massive US class action relating to an allegedly defective device.
Andrew is long established as a leading civil fraud silk. He has acted as lead advocate on some of the largest recent civil fraud cases litigated in England, and has a wealth of experience as a trial advocate as well as in injunctive litigation, having appeared in dozens of Freezing Order and Search Order applications as well committal/contempt applications. Acted for one of the two defendants in successfully resisting this FCA civil claim for restitution in respect of alleged market abuse.
Acted for the Former Chair of a large financial institution in a lengthy joint investigation commenced in 2016 into the responsibility of senior management for the failure of the institution following the Global Financial Crisis. Following the process (which remains confidential), the RDC/EDMC decided to discontinue the investigation without enforcement action.
Andrew has a long pedigree and an established reputation in insurance and reinsurance, acting primarily for policy holders, and specialising in Bermuda Form Arbitrations. His experience in that area includes acting as lead counsel for the Tennessee Valley Authority in the series of Bermuda Form claims which arose following a major environmental disaster at a Tennessee power plant, and has subsequently included claims by US policyholders relating to a variety of mass torts and defective products, from forever chemicals to allegedly defective military equipment. He is presently instructed in over half a dozen Bermuda Form claims at various different stages of litigation.
