Well known umpire Darrell Hair claimed that he had been discriminated against on the grounds of race after the ICC refused to allow him to umpire very top level international matches following Mr Hair’s awarding a Test Match to England at the Oval, London, in August 2006. The ICC argued that race was nothing to do with its treatment of Mr Hair, its actions against simply reflecting Mr Hair’s lack of judgment in causing an international cricket incident when there had been no need to do so. On the seventh day of the hearing, Mr Hair withdrew his claim.
