Andrew Hunter represented Leicester City Football Club in its recent successful appeal to the Football League Appeal Committee on 18th September 2002 regarding the dismissal of Dennis Wise.
The Club had dismissed Wise for attacking another player whilst on a pre-season tour in Finland. Wise appealed, and the Football League at first ordered the Club to reinstate him. The Club then appealed to the Football League Appeals Committee, which reversed the decision, and upheld Wise’s dismissal.
The Committee’s decision sets an important precedent regarding the jurisdiction of the Football League to interfere in disciplinary disputes between football players and their Clubs.
