High profile dispute between a well-known songwriter and record producer against his former publisher and employer. Very many issues of contract and copyright law arising from the Claimant’s departure to work with a rival organisation. Trial before Lewison J in July 2004 was followed by a hearing in the Court of Appeal in May 2005. Following the Court of Appeal judgment in November 2005, the Claimant was successful on all 12 principal issues between the parties. The Defendant’s petition to appeal to the House of Lords was dismissed in April 2006.
