Mr Bin Hammam was a FIFA presidential candidate accused by FIFA of attempting to buy votes ahead of last year’s election.  FIFA subsequently imposed a lifetime ban on Mr Bin Hammam engaging in any national or international football-related activities.  The CAS has upheld Mr Bin Hammam’s appeal on the grounds of insufficient evidence and lifted the ban.  The Panel made clear they were following the CAS Code and “not making any sort of affirmative finding of innocence in relation to Mr Bin Hammam.
