RFU v Brendan Venter

Andrew Green QC acted for the RFU, and Adam Lewis QC for Dr Brendan Venter, Director of Rugby at Saracens, in disciplinary proceedings brought against him. 

The charge against Dr Venter of pushing a lady supporter during the Leicester v Saracens match on 8 May 2010 was dismissed by the Disciplinary Panel. Dr Venter was however found guilty of conduct prejudicial to the game by making provocative gestures and comments to spectators. He was given a 14 week ban. Dr Venter appealed and succeeded in having his ban reduced but not overturned.
