Chairman of the International Cricket Council’s Dispute Resolution Committee and Judicial Commissioner, Michael Beloff QC, has dismissed an appeal by the captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team, Dinesh Chandimal.

The Match Referee found Mr Chandimal guilty of changing the condition of the ball contrary to clause 41.3 of the ICC’s Standard Test Match Playing Conditions in the second test match between Sri Lanka and the West Indies, played in St Lucia. The referee imposed two suspension points and a fine of 100 per cent of his match fee.  Mr Beloff upheld both parts of the Match Referee’s decision.

The reasons for Mr Beloff’s own decision will be published on the ICC s website later this week.

A further preliminary hearing will be held before Mr Beloff on 10th July 2018 to deal for the purposes of sanction with the Level 3 charges which Mr Chandimal,  the team Coach Mr Chandika Hathurusinghe and the Team Manager Asanka Gurusinha have admitted.
