Tim Otty KC awarded Order of Merit by the President of Ukraine

On 26 February 2026 Tim Otty KC was awarded the Presidential Order of Merit by President Zelensky of Ukraine for his leadership of Ukraine’s team in its interstate case against Russia relating to Russia’s February 2022 invasion. Tim was honoured alongside Lord Verdirame KC of 20 Essex and Julianne Hughes-Jennett of Quinn Emmanuel with whom he led lawyers from Blackstone Chambers, 20 Essex and Quinn Emmanuel.

The European Court gave judgment in Ukraine’s favour in July 2025 finding all victims of Russia’s attacks to be within Russia’s jurisdiction for Convention purposes and that Russia had violated the European Convention on a flagrant and unprecedented scale.
