Antonia accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ practice, and is experienced in High Court and County Court advocacy. Recent highlights include:

  • Appearing unled before the High Court in Jockey Club Racecources Limited v Persons Unknown, obtained the continuation of an injunction against Persons Unknown, to prohibit acts of trespass and dangerous disruptions to horse races by unknown protesters at the Epsom Racecourse. Previously obtained an interim injunction in 2023 and five-year injunction in 2024, subject to annual review ([2024] EWHC 1786 (Ch), led by Alan Maclean KC). The proceedings involved the "novel exercise of an equitable discretionary power" as recently clarified by the Supreme Court in Wolverhampton City Council v London Gypsies and Travellers [2024] AC 983, and the balancing of the newcomers' rights to freedom of expression and assembly, with the Claimant's property rights under the European Convention on Human Rights.
  • Acted for over 600,000 Claimants in a 14-week commercial trial on liability in the Technology and Construction Court in Munícipio de Mariana and Ors v BHP Group Plc and BHP Group Ltd, ending in March 2025 (led by Alain Choo-Choy KC and Andrew Fulton KC). The proceedings, brought under Brazilian law, relate to the collapse of the Fundão Dam at the Germano mining complex in November 2015, considered the worst environmental disaster in Brazilian history.
  • Intervened on behalf of a coalition of civil society groups on matters involving climate displacement, in relation to a request by Colombia and Chile, leading to Advisory Opinion OC 32/25 of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. In the Opinion, handed down on 3 July 2025, the Court gave important guidance recognising the right to a stable climate; the obligations of States to adopt measures to guarantee the protection, restoration and regeneration of ecosystems; and States' obligations not to cause irreversible damage to the climate and environment as an imperative duty of international law.
  • Was seconded to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for two and a half months in 2023, working with the Sanctions and Asia Pacific Team primarily on challenges to sanctions designations and matters of licencing. Antonia continues to work with the FCDO on sanctions related matters.

Antonia has full working proficiency in Portuguese and Spanish, and frequently conducts legal conferences, analysis and research in these languages. She recently completed the King's College Executive Course on International Commercial Arbitration and has a particular interest in arbitral disputes relating to Latin America, and more broadly.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Antonia worked as a video journalist for Reuters in Brazil and Colombia, covering the 2016 Colombian peace process (deployed to a FARC rebel camp), corruption scandals, the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games. Antonia also worked as a Senior Analyst for Control Risks, advising investors on ESG considerations and political, security and social developments across Latin America.
