Michael Fordham QC and Jessica Boyd acted for Andrew March, a haemophiliac who contracted HIV and hepatitis C from a NHS blood transfusion as a child, in his successful claim for judicial review in March 2010. Mr March challenged the Government's decision not to implement the recommendation of a recent independent inquiry, that victims of contaminated NHS blood products who contracted HIV and hepatitis C should be compensated at a level equivalent to the level at which such victims are compensated in Ireland. Quashing the decision, Mr Justice Holman found that the Government's approach to this decision had been and remained infected with error.
